Gregg Opgenorth lives and gardens in Fallbrook, California with his wife, Linda, and their 2 golden retrievers, building their garden over the last 17 years. Their focus has been on palms, succulents and bamboo, endeavoring to not just have a plant collection but also to have a garden with reasonably good design.
Gregg grew up in Colorado but has lived in California for the last 30 years. He has worked in commercial nurseries of all kinds for 47 years and is currently Head Grower at East West Trees in Rainbow, California where they grow 600 varieties of plants in 2” pots up to 48” box specimen trees on 36 acres. Their main products are succulents, cacti, palms, cordylines, varieties from the protea family, bird of paradise plants, Australian natives, subtropicals, and all kinds of rare and climate adapted plants. East West Trees has recently changed its name to Grubb & Nadler Nurseries.
Gregg and East West Trees are listed in the acknowledgements of Jason Dewees book, “Designing with Palms”, Timber Press, 2018.
Gregg is also a Board member, Director at Large, with the San Diego Farm Bureau and represents East West Trees/Grubb & Nadler Nurseries as a member of the San Diego County Flower and Plant Association.
