Thanks to all the members who braved driving in the rain to attend the January meeting. For those who made it, speaker Gary Ferguson's presentation on Wildfires in the West was well received.
Our upcoming February meeting speaker, Tom Nuccio from Nuccio's Nurseries in Altadena, will be enlightening for anyone who appreciates the lovely colors and shapes of camellias. Nuccio's Nurseries is a top commercial grower of camellias and azaleas in North America.
Our March meeting will help launch Jeff Moore's upcoming book, Soft Succulents. We will once again have the Succulent Plant and Pottery Fair with vendors selling all things related to succulents, pottery, and more. Also, Jeff will be signing and selling his books for all members and guests. Be sure to bring a friend and come early to this event as we are going to serve special appetizers and beverages before the meeting.
Finally, at the January board of directors meeting, the board voted to appoint board member and Publicity Chair Jennifer Morrissey to the position of executive director of SDHS. Thanks to Jim Bishop's encouragement, Jennifer will take on this important new role to help keep SDHS focused and organized. With regularly changing board members, the executive director will be the glue that binds all the different aspects of our organization together moving forward.
